Variable temperature FTIR

Nicolet 7600 FTIR - Specac variable temperature cell and Hellma temperature controller - Specac Golden Gare ATR device

Instrument description
Variable temperature FTIR
Description and functionality
The instrument is a conventional FTIR, but it is endowed with two devices able to acquire spectra of the sample surface by attenuated total reflection technique (ATR) and as a function of temperature by a temperature programmable cell.
The ATR accessory is composed of a diamond crystal with single reflection at 45°. It allows surface analysis, being fraction of micron the penetration depth of the IR beam into the sample surface, minimal sample preparation and analysis of samples in their natural states.
The Variable Temperature Cell Holder can be used for the transmission study of liquid or solid samples over a broad range of temperatures (-190°C to 250°C). The cell consists of a vacuum jacket that contains a refrigerant dewar/cell holder assembly and a heating block that contains the appropriate cell. The cell holder is driven by a temperature controller-programmer. The recorded spectral variation can be associated to sample physical and chemical transformation as a function of temperature during heating or cooling ramp or as a function of time in isothermal conditions
